This will be a large drop-in community event to be held at UCLan in the Foster building and in the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre dedicated to murdered MP ‘Jo Cox’ Throughout the day there will be music, guest speakers and workshops. In Sir Tom we have mixed gender five aside football, with a trophy presented to the winner.

Join us for an evening of poetry and music celebrating the rich history and culture of the Caribbean communities that settled in the UK post Windrush. Poet and musician Roger Robinson reads from his latest collection A Portable Paradise, exploring the changing faces of his two homes: London and Trinidad. Poet, literary activist and author of Another Crossing, Kadijah Ibrahim performs poetry inspired by her Jamaican heritage.
There will also be songs from Billie Meredith and new work from the Manchester based collective Young Identity.
Hosted in partnership with St John’s Church and Speaking Volumes.

This lively session will introduce criminal legislation relating to specifically race ‘hate crime’, and how to recognise and address these. It will also include academic perspectives on the impact on ‘hate crime’ on victims and their communities. We are fortunate to have several first-person testimonies on the experience of hate crimes involving race, LGBT, and disability. There will be time for questions and discussions.
